An in-house CT scanner and microscope mean a child does not have to be moved elsewhere if something turns out to be more complicated, and the team treats them in five languages including English and Ukrainian. The clinic is open every day from 8:00 to 20:00 without exception, takes patients without Czech insurance and offers instalments on more expensive treatment — which matters for visiting families and recent arrivals. On the downside: it has only operated since 2023, its track record is still short, and it does not spell out which children's treatments its insurance contracts actually cover.

A parent isn't looking for the "best clinic" in the abstract but for an answer to their own problem. Below are the eight situations people most often look for a pediatric dentist in Prague with, and the clinics from the ranking that cover them. First visit, the child is around one year old
The first appointment is scheduled at around the first birthday, or as soon as the first tooth appears, and there should be no treatment at it — just getting to know the surgery and brushing instructions for the parent. Look for a clinic that explicitly says it takes children from their first year: elsewhere pediatric care effectively starts at three or four.

The child is terrified or has had a bad experience
What decides this is not equipment but the ability to work with resistance: give it time, show the instruments, put a cartoon on, and use laughing gas if needed. A clinic that answers the first "I won't open my mouth" with general anaesthesia is skipping steps.

Several cavities at once — get it all done in one visit
Five twenty-minute appointments are harder on a small child than one treatment under anaesthesia. Clinics with their own anaesthetist can treat the whole mouth in a single session; the first hour costs from CZK 9,000 in Prague, and since March 2026 some children go through the VZP scheme with no top-up at all.

You need as much as possible covered by insurance
The gap between a contracted and a non-contracted clinic on a single child's filling is CZK 900 against CZK 3,450. Four of the eight clinics hold insurance contracts: Dynasty works with VZP, VoZP, ČPZP, ZPMV and OZP, KissDent with five insurers and provides the preventive check-up free, DENT MEDICO covers the first examination and a CZK 900 filling through insurance, and DoctorDent accepts the major insurers. Schill Dental Clinic and Wabi Clinic do not work with insurers at all.

Czech isn't spoken at home
You cannot explain a procedure to a frightened child through a phone translator, so language here is a condition rather than a convenience. Of the eight clinics only one lists its languages by name; the rest simply don't publish it — which doesn't mean they won't treat you, only that you cannot know in advance.

Sedation, IV sedation, general anaesthesia — what is what
Three different things that price lists routinely conflate. The difference is whether the child is awake, and whether an anaesthetist has to be present.
Nitrous oxide sedation (laughing gas)
The child breathes a mix of nitrous oxide and oxygen through a nasal mask. They stay awake, talk and cooperate — they simply stop being frightened and perceive time differently. It takes effect within minutes and wears off just as fast; the child can eat beforehand and walks out straight afterwards. The condition is that the child tolerates the nasal mask and breathes through the nose. In Prague: CZK 1,500–2,000.
IV sedation (analgosedation)
An anaesthetist administers a sedative and an analgesic intravenously. The child is deeply relaxed but not unconscious. Used for longer procedures and for children for whom nitrous oxide is not enough. In Prague: CZK 5,040–8,000.
General anaesthesia — “treatment while asleep”
The child sleeps, feels nothing, and the entire mouth can be treated in one visit. An anaesthetist runs the procedure with continuous monitoring of vital signs. It is chosen for extensive decay and for children who cannot cooperate. In Prague: CZK 9,000–10,500 for the first hour. The procedure is done on an empty stomach and the child needs an accompanying adult.

Prices are the range across the eight ranked clinics as of 6 August 2026. Restrictions and preparation are given as the clinics themselves publish them; the final decision is made by the dentist together with an anaesthetist after an examination.
Important in 2026: VZP covers general anaesthesia for children
From 1 March to 31 December 2026 the Czech insurer VZP is running a pilot scheme under which treating eligible children under general anaesthesia is fully covered by public health insurance — including the anaesthetic care and recovery-room monitoring. A provider in the scheme may not charge the parent any top-up. Several dozen dental practices are taking part, and eligibility is decided by the dentist together with an anaesthetist once gentler options have been exhausted. Before paying CZK 9,000 out of pocket, ask both your clinic and your insurer whether your child qualifies.
What children's dental treatment costs in Prague
Prices as of 6 August 2026 from the published price lists of the eight ranked clinics. The spread is wide because some clinics hold insurance contracts and some do not.

At clinics with an insurance contract, the first examination and some fillings go through public health insurance. Clinics without contracts — Schill Dental Clinic and Wabi Clinic — always charge the full price.
How to choose a pediatric dentist in Prague — 8 steps
Start before anything hurts
The first visit should happen around the child's first birthday, or once the first tooth comes through, and it should be a get-to-know-you appointment. A child whose first trip to the dentist is in pain will associate the dentist with pain for years.
Check whether the clinic names its pediatric specialist
“We see children too” and “our pediatric dentist is Dr X” are different claims. A name on the website means a specific person is answerable for the care.
Find out what the clinic does if the child cannot cope
Ask before the appointment, not in the chair: do you have laughing gas? Can you treat under general anaesthesia, or will you refer us elsewhere? Switching practices halfway through treatment is harder on a child than the procedure itself.
Ask for the price in advance and in writing
A decent clinic will quote the examination, the filling and the sedation before starting. A published price list is a good sign — it means the clinic is not embarrassed by its prices.
Ask about insurance
The gap between a contracted and a non-contracted clinic on a child's filling is an order of magnitude: CZK 900 against CZK 3,450. Over a long course of treatment that is tens of thousands of crowns.
Consider whether you need it done in one sitting
When a child has several cavities at once, five twenty-minute appointments are often worse than one treatment under anaesthesia. Ask whether the clinic can treat the whole mouth in a single visit and whether insurance will cover it.
Check the language you can actually communicate in
If Czech is not spoken at home, ask specifically who on the team speaks your language — not whether you will “manage”. You cannot explain a procedure to a frightened child through a phone translator.
Book one introductory visit with no treatment
Half an hour in which the child looks around the surgery and nobody puts anything in their mouth will shape the next ten years more than any ranking online — this one included.
Red flags: when to change pediatric clinic
General warning signs, not accusations against any clinic in this ranking.
Refuses to quote a price in advance
“It depends on the extent” is fair for a complex case, not for a routine examination or filling. A clinic should be able to quote basic treatments over the phone.
Asks the parent to hold the child down
Physically restraining a child during treatment is a last resort, not a standard. If it is the first suggestion, the clinic has no tools for working with anxiety.
Offers general anaesthesia as the first option
Anaesthesia should come after gentler routes have been exhausted — enough time, a playful approach, laughing gas. Offered immediately, it is about the practice's convenience rather than the child.
Frightens the parent into consenting
“If we don't do this now they'll lose all their teeth” on an uncomplicated case is pressure. Get a second opinion.
Publishes no price list at all
A clinic that lists prices nowhere and will not email them will most likely quote them at the point where treatment can no longer be stopped.
Reviews on a single platform only
Hundreds of glowing reviews in one place and nothing anywhere else is a pattern that can be bought. Look for confirmation from at least three independent sources.

He selected the clinics, collected the same set of data on each of them and calculated the scores using the methodology above — the order is the output of that calculation, not an editorial impression.
What we did for this piece
He went through the websites of 15 Prague clinics offering pediatric dentistry and collected the same set of data for each: the name of the pediatric specialist, the anaesthesia options and their prices, the price list for children's treatment, insurance contracts, languages of service and year of founding. Prices were copied from price lists, not from marketing pages. The eight clinics with the fullest and most verifiable data are published; the other seven fell short mainly because they publish too little specific information about children's care. The order is the output of the weighted calculation in the methodology — which is why the clinic in first place does not have a perfect score.
What this ranking does not do
This ranking assesses a service, not medicine. It does not assess the quality of medical care, treatment outcomes or the competence of individual dentists — none of that can be judged from public sources. It assesses what a clinic offers, at what price, to whom, and how clearly it says so in advance. It is not a substitute for a dental examination and gives no recommendation about your child's treatment.

In our ranking, first place goes to Dynasty Stomatology (Plzeňská 3384/21, Prague 5 – Smíchov) with a score of 9.6 out of 10. Three things decided it: a pediatric dentist named on the site, a fully published anaesthesia ladder from nitrous oxide sedation at CZK 1,500 to treatment under general anaesthesia at CZK 9,000 for the first hour, and service in five languages including English. Close behind are Zubaři u Pivovaru at 9.4, who publish the most detailed children's price list in Prague.
How much does children's dental treatment cost in Prague?
A child's first examination costs between CZK 0 and CZK 2,040 — free at KissDent, most expensive at Zubaři u Pivovaru. A filling in a baby tooth costs CZK 900 at a clinic with an insurance contract and up to CZK 4,500 at one without. Extracting a baby tooth costs CZK 440 to 4,500. Does Czech health insurance cover general anaesthesia for children?

Can a child be treated in English in Prague?
Yes. Among the ranked clinics, Dynasty Stomatology explicitly lists its languages — Czech, Polish, English, Ukrainian and Russian — and belongs to a group with a sister clinic in Kraków. The other clinics do not state languages of service on their websites, which does not mean English is unavailable; it means you cannot confirm it in advance. Ask specifically who on the team speaks the language you need.
At what age should a child first see a dentist?
The first visit is recommended at around one year of age, or shortly after the first tooth comes through. It is not about treatment but about getting to know the surgery and giving the parent brushing instructions. After that, preventive check-ups twice a year. Decay in baby teeth does need treating — it hurts as much as in adult teeth and affects how the permanent teeth come in.
What should I do if my child is terrified of the dentist?
The sequence is: an introductory visit with no treatment, then a playful approach and plenty of time, then nitrous oxide sedation, and only if none of that is enough, deep sedation or general anaesthesia. A clinic that offers anaesthesia straight away is skipping steps. The clinics most clearly set up for anxious children in this ranking are Zubaři u Pivovaru and Dynasty Stomatology.
Which pediatric dentist in Prague is taking new patients?
Of the ranked clinics, Dynasty Stomatology explicitly states that it takes new patients with no waiting list — it says so in its own FAQ. The others do not publish their status, which is normal: registering with a dentist is a bottleneck in the Czech Republic, places open up irregularly and rarely make it onto a website. Calling is the most reliable route — phone numbers and websites for all eight clinics are in the ranking cards. The other route is your insurer's register of contracted dentists: it shows who holds a contract, and a phone call confirms whether they are taking children right now.
How much does putting a child to sleep at the dentist cost?
Nitrous oxide sedation costs CZK 1,500–2,000 for a session of up to an hour: CZK 1,500 at Dynasty Stomatology, CZK 1,600 at DoctorDent, from CZK 2,000 at Zubaři u Pivovaru. What should I do if I can't find a pediatric dentist?
Start with your insurer's register of dentists — everyone with a contract is listed there. Then widen the area: the ranking covers Prague 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10, and a clinic two tram stops further on is often taking patients when the nearest one is not. Call rather than email: open places rarely reach a website. Ask about a waiting list — plenty of clinics keep one without saying so online. If you need a one-off examination rather than ongoing care, say so: some clinics will see you without registering. And with acute pain you don't look for a regular dentist at all — you go to the emergency service, see the next question.
Where do I go if my child has no dentist and a tooth hurts right now?
With dental trauma, swelling or severe pain you don't wait for an appointment. For children up to 18, acute injuries of the facial region and infections are handled by the Department of Dentistry for Children and Adults at FN Motol (V Úvalu 84, Prague 5) — it operates around the clock, but the separate children's dental emergency there has been cut back in recent years, so call first. The general dental emergency service is at Městská poliklinika Praha, Spálená 12, Prague 1: evenings, weekends and public holidays. Among the ranked clinics, DoctorDent runs its own emergency hours. A knocked-out or broken tooth is a matter of hours rather than days: the sooner the child is seen, the better the chance of saving it, and the emergency service will tell you over the phone what to do with the tooth in the meantime.
